Janeen Rea (Daily) Lapikockij

Dec. 21, 1953 - April 22, 2005

After graduation in 1971, Janeen joined the U.S. Army and did her eight-week basic training at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. When she completed basic, she was assigned to Fort Lee, Virginia for her Advanced Individual Training at the Quartermaster Food Service School. Upon completion, Janeen was awarded Distinguished Graduate of her class.

She was then assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas where she met Nikolaus Lapikockij, where upon a year later, they were married. After almost spending two years in Kansas, Janeen and Nick were assigned to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The Lapikockijs’ spent a five-year tour at the Hawaii Schofield facilities; they welcomed Melissa, a newly born daughter.

Upon the completion of their five-year Hawaiian tour, they were assigned to Fort Hood, Texas. While stationed in Texas, after fifteen months, Janeen decided to exit the Army. Janeen spent ten years of military service, and during her discharge process, she received an Honorable Discharge. Janeen received numerous awards during her tenure in the U.S. Army. Nick remained in active service until he reached his twenty years of service and resided in Freeport, Texas.

In 1995, Janeen was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Because of this progressively debilitating disease, Nick retired from the work force to take care of Janeen full time. After battling the affliction of MS, Janeen passed away on April 22, 2005.
